Smelled smoke and walked outside to see what was burning, there was a fire smoldering in the neighbor's backyard and nobody home. Called the fire department, explained there was a fire burning unattended next door. Little later on walked outside to see if the fire was out, the guy is back home and yelling at me for calling the fire department. Apparently they told him it's no problem to leave a fire burning unattended. I thought the fire department is supposed to educate people about fire safety. They are supposed to take care of issues like this, not encourage people to be careless.
