At concourse E14 on Dec 28, boarding a short flight to Asheville, I noticed the water cooler was covered in a black slippery slime evident to the naked eye along the margins of the stainless steel and even on the upper water dispenser under which one would place a water bottle to fill. This is a health hazard and easy to clean. Also one male cleaner was repeatedly popping into to the "Family"bathroom for respite, making it unavailable to families. He often stood outside next to the dirty water cooler with a trash receptacle smiling at passers by, then going back in the bathroom. Finally another clearer showed up, left her trash can and they both disappeared. I was disgusted by the low level of hygiene esp in the cold and flu season. I took photos but they are not on

Wonderful airport with a quaint southern charm. Everything is easy access and is well laid out. The bathrooms are clean, and there is a wide-variety of food choices. Seats are comfortable while waiting to get on the plane.
AA made us walk to the plane outdoors through the exhaust of numerous planes. It was challenging for older people with mobility issues. It was 32 degrees and windy. I was forced to remove my portable oxygen concentrator from its carrier and carry it up the stairs to the airplane once I got there.
Had a 3 hour layover on Thanksgiving weekend & was pleasantly surprised at how uncrowded the airport felt. Lots of food options & shopping opportunities. Loved the natural light, indoor trees & homey feel of the rocking chairs (some even had electrical outlets nearby for charging my phone). Easy to get from concourse to concourse with moving walkways.
Little traffic on 485 so got there really early. Great to be able to pull into the Cell Phone lot (that was clearly marked!) and wait for the flight!!! Arrival lanes were bumper to bumper, but everyone letting folks get in and out of lanes. Got to terminal and pulled behind other cars out of traffic flow to pick up my daughter. A whistle blowing security attendant knocked on my window and said move. I asked him where and he said circle. I pulled into the lane and it was completely stopped. He knocked on my window again and said he was being nice and I was going to get a ticket. I pointed to completely stopped traffic and asked exactly where he expected me to go, and how. He blew his whistle and threw his hand up at me and walked away. By the time I got from A to B my daughter was standing on the curve. I moved toward the curb to get out of traffic that was moving and let her jump in the car, and a lady screamed at me, this is for taxis only. Could I not read the sign. Actually, I did not see it in the dark and with my daughter standing beside the car. She jumped in while the lady continued to yell at me. I can not imagine their day. And if I stopped in the middle of moving traffic, or ignored them, maybe I could see their mean behavior to me. Just ended a day of my work with anticipation and excitement and got such ruda attitudes from only 2 people we actually encountered. Just think Charlotte can do better than that, even on December 22nd. I hope they have a better day today.
The Charlotte Douglas International Airport is quite nice. There are many food and shopping options in the airport. There is also a good amount of places to sit and plug in devices. The only drawback to this airport is the amount of time that it takes to walk from one end to the other. Hopefully they will consider adding a quick transport system when they open the new addition.
