I don't have much experience with venues like this, but it doesn't take an expert to spot a good place to see a show. The facility is clean, the staff is friendly, and most importantly, the sight lines and sound is spot on. Our seats (lower level, far right side) were listed as "possible sight line issues." We had no problem at all, so don't worry about buying the cheaper seats and having an issue. Fair prices at the snack counter, too.
Went to Les Miserables last Thursday. Staff were friendly and helpful. First visit to this venue. Wow! The protocol needs work! What a hot mess! Late attendees were seated during the performance! At intermission, the bathrooms were overflowing with people. There was no warning that intermission was coming to an end. The lights went out and the curtain was raised! Yup! Then, the stampede of 100 some people standing in the isles in the rows scrambling to get to their seats IN THE DARK! Oh, and the doors kept opening to let in all the other late-comers (people who were standing in line to use the bathroom)! Technical difficulties. Mics were not all functioning. Overall sound quality was poor. Parking $8. ***Update. Friends went Friday night and received an email to remind them to arrive early or on time. Bathroom situation was still a fiasco. They saw lights flicker to warn them Intermission was coming to an end. Keep on improving, Ovens!
Great parking and I do not think there is a bad seat in the house. Older seats but the venue was clean and the staff was very helpful and courteous. I am not sure if all of their programs are as great as the Moscow Ballet but they certainly hosted a great show.
We went here to see Les Miserables and I could not have been more disappointed with the venue. It was in the same night as a Checkers game so traffic was pretty bad getting there. Once we made it there, it took us at least 20 minutes to get to our seats because they made us wait in so many lines. Once we got to our seats just as the musical was starting, people were talking, walking in front of us, and shining flash lights to try to find their seats for the first half an hour of the musical. The theater was so hot during the whole performance that I took my shoes off just to try to cool off. I asked them to turn on the AC during intermission and they said they couldn't. It was very clear that Blumenthal was not the one in charge of the event and I will not go to another performance there.
Ovens is a wonderful venue to see a performance. I have been several times over the years and have sat in various locations. I have been pleased each time. The facility is very clean and well maintained.
