DO NOT PUT YOUR CHILD IN THIS CENTER. DO NOT WORK HERE. THEY NEED TO BE CALLED OUT. RACIST, UNPROFESSIONAL, AND ABUSIVE. OH, AND THEY LIE TO PARENTS....AHEM BEN DAVIS.
8 weeks after wife's mom dies, her aunt (second mom) passes also in horrendous accident (RENEE GOUYD). My wife was denied permission to go to funeral which was 2 weeks later (So family could come in from NY). That day, FPUR TEACHERS ALL LEAVE THE FACILITY, ALL WALK OUT. My wife is left with 19 children, 3-5 years old by herself. Out of ratio and unsafe. A week later, our daughter is getting set for her birthday party with her friends, brings in decoration, and hats for that Wednesday, and my wife gets fired at END of day for being late. NOT WHEN SHE WALKS IN, BUT AT END OF THE DAY. ANDREA SMITH GAVE HER PERMISSSION TO COME IN LATE DUE TO MIGRAINE!!!!! But that apparently was NOT the story she told corporate.
I'm EXTREMELY picky when it comes to the care of my children...especially since my husband works in the childcare industry. I had toured several facilities, and immediately fell in love with UCDC...the staff, the classrooms, the facility, and the location. My children were 3 years old and 4 months when we first enrolled them, and I have since been satisfied with the care provided. The staff make me feel like family, and I know my children are well taken care of when they are there.
As stated before, they are very unprofessional and made several snide comments to my wife about her not understanding things "because she was white". My wife waited for FOUR months for her insurance, only to get it the week after she was fired. She would ask for bathroom break and if she was in the bathroom more thsn a minute, the assistant director ANDREA SMITH would bang on door loudly and shriek "did you fall in". We knew my wife was diabetic, but did not have means to get meds without insurance. When the children's vouchers were up for recertification, DSS SENT documentation to the school, but when my wife asked off to take care of it, she was denied permission and we lost vouchers, and are back on waiting list.
By far the worse environment I ever worked in. Teachers were sweet and loving to the children. However, management is a new level of horrible. So unprofessional and rude. If you are considering working here..DO NOT!
WHEN THE FINAL CHECK CAME, THEY TOOK OUT FOR INSURANCE!!!! AFTER 3 WEEKS WE WERE REIMBURSED, BUT WHAT A MESS!!
Management is the issue. I had my kids there and my wife worked there for seven months. They threw out several items of our daughters clothes when she would have accidents and pur daughter saying they would yell at her when she said she had to go potty. When my mother in law (TERESA GOUYD) passed away suddenly, my wife was expected and texted at ten pm the night before her mothers wake to be at work the day of wake, and day after her mothers funeral was told she "had better be present or may not have a job" (texts to prove it). My wife lost her MOTHER and was given NO TIME OFF FOR GRIEF AND WAS TOLD TO KEEP IT OUTSIDE BUT WHEN JAMBEE THOMAS LOST HER MOTHER, SHE BARKED ORDERS, AS DID ANDREA THAT THEY WEREN'T HANDLING XYZ, DIDN'T MY WIFE REALIZE THE MOTHER THEY LOVED WAS DYING/DIED. THEY GAVE MY WIFE 2 HOURS TO VISIT HER MOTHER AN HOUR AWAY. ALL THE TIME THEY GAVE HER WAS DRIVING TIME!!!! And when approached about insurance (further down), JAMBEE THOMAS LOOKED MY WIFE IN THE EYE AND SAID 'I CAN'T DEAL WITH YOUR WORK ISSUES, I'M DEALING WITH MY MOTHERS PASSING'. As she sat in her office, 5 weeks? 6 weeks after my wife lost her momma. My wife cried so hard that night. That was the hardest on me and children, watching my wife deteriorating due to the EMOTIONAL AND VERBAL ABUSE FROM MANAGEMENT.
I wan to take the time to tell you about my experience with University Child Development Center. My wife and I moved to Highland Creek in 8 years ago. We visited several childcare facilities in the area. We were extremely impressed with the staff at UCDC. We felt a family bond right away. All of our children have attended this facility and love the teachers. We have a toddler who attends now. Whenever I go to drop off my son, my other children cannot wait to go in and speak to the teachers. The staff are always friendly and want to help. I noticed a couple of negative reviews about this center and thought I need to set the record straight. I entrust my children to this center on a daily basis. The center is always clean and the staff are professional. You will not go wrong if you choose this center as the place to love and educate your children!
As a parent ONE star. As a company and former employee I wish I could give negative stars. Played games with insurance that I was ENTITLED to after enrolling in May. Also DENIED ME BEREAVEMENT AFTER THE DEATH OF MY MOTHER AND DENIED ME PERMISSION TO FUNERAL TO MY AUNT, WHO RAISED ME.
