I brought my Saab in because of a vibration at 45 mph and above. They diagnosed the problem quickly and advised me I needed a new rim. After finding a good used rim on ebay, i brought it back and they quickly installed it at a great price. I've heard from some friends that these guys are good and honest. So far they have definitely proved it.
This is one pisses off customer.............go elsewhere!
My car broke down and I had it towed to Mecklenburg Fleet Automotive. I explained to Randy, the person handling the repairs for my car that it seemed as though there was no gas going to the engine, and that I needed my car repaired by end of business on Tuesday. Randy said that it would not be a problem having the car completed by that day. He said that they were not that busy. On Tuesday, Randy called me to say that they had completed the repairs and it would cost 381.00 total. He said that the crank shaft sensor had to be repaired. I was a little suspicious since my car wasn't having starting problem. When it came time to pick up the car, I was informed that the issue with the car was not fixed and would not be completed that day. The next day I spoke to Randy and he informed me that it was the fuel pump was causing the problem. I told him that I suggested that to him when we first spoke. The work that had been done on the previous day on the crankshaft sensor was totally unnecessary. I informed him that the crank shaft sensor work should not have been done, and that the part should be removed from the car and repair bill. Randy agreed, and called me with the price of the fuel pump job. He quoted me a price for the parts that was $150.00 more than the most expensive part at other places. I told Randy that the price for the parts was unacceptable and that he needed to locate cheaper parts. That afternoon Randy Called Elaine the co-owner on the car and my wife, and explained that the car would cost 685.00 to fix which was extremely high for a fuel pump repair. I spoke to one of the co-owners and explained that the price was too high, and that some of the charges were not authorized. They had charged $90.00 for a diagnostic on the car and added that charge onto the final bill when the repairs were done by them. In addition, the mechanic misdiagnosed the car which caused the additional work to be performed in the first place. He removed this fee, but would not remove the additional charges that were applied to the bill that were as result him having to remove the unauthorized work done from the misdiagnoses. As a result of the poor work done by his mechanics, there was an additional 200.00 added to the cost of the repairs that should have been removed. I feel that I was overcharged for this repair by this shop due to their failure to properly inspect the vehicle before beginning to make repairs.
These jackasses were recommended to me by another shop as being knowledgeable about Chevy 6.5 diesel trucks. Jeff one of the owners has one.................well let me review. After a routine maintenance and fuel filter replacement $$$, do not remember amount stay tuned! I was stranded in an uptown garage one Sunday after Mass, I had it towed back there.$95 diagnostic, it would be another $400 - $700 to fix. I had it towed at my expense. Fast forward 4 months and 2 hip replacements (another story). Fuel filter replacement damaged a $300 part fuel filter heater (this truck goes to Manitoba, Canada occasionally in the winter).4 hrs of labor just to get to the part, and intake manifold removal. Fuel delivery f'd from the "fuel filter" replacement. Yes it's a 1997 but OMG a little care goes a long way. Understand, this truck never dropped any liquids. Sitting and the occasional attempt to maintain, fuel dripped for the months during my recovery. I estimate a Chevy 6.5 L diesel fuel filter replacement is going to cost me at least $700+.
They help me with a problem that was very hard to find someone to help me with.. They did the job at a very satisfiable rate and a very quick pace and I was able to get my tow truck back and get back to work making money for my family and building my business thanks everyone over at Mecklenburg Automotive
