DO NOT GO WITH THIS COMPANY!!! I have been trying for THREE days to contact them in reference to moving my furniture! I am currently on hold and have been for 20min now!!! This absolutely ridiculous! I guarentee it won't take them 20min to take the $500 deposit out of my account!!!
Don't bother calling the local number. Nobody ever answers the phone. And don't fill out for a quote on line. 10 different company's will call you. All I wanted was to know the size of a container and how much. Apparently that's to hard to ask these days.
Took a little bit of effort to get a callback. Had empty container on site and couldn't get it removed for 11 days. 11 DAYS. They said that was first available for removal. DID I MENTION 11 DAYS.
This was by far the worst experience that I have encountered in the history of customer service. First of all, after being told that to expect a trailer between the hours of four and six the trailer never showed up nor did I hear anything from the company. Secondly, I was told that I was going to have a moving coordinator and I never heard from him/her. I am supposed to relocate to Nevada very soon and the fact that the trailer is not here we cannot move any of our belongings. Finally, people who were supposed to be assisting us with our move was contingent upon an on time arrival. To top it all off, I have been on hold for a total of an hour with the usual useless rhetoric saying that "your call is very important to us". Needless to say I do not recommend this company to anyone, unless you enjoy being unequivocally annoyed and pacified by useless customer service.
I read several bad reviews about Pack Rat, and my intuition told me not to work with them, but I convinced myself that the savings would be worthwhile, and I could not have been more wrong. You get what you pay for, and Pack Rat is an unbelievably disorganized company. They called me 2 days before my delivery date (for a cross country move) to let me know that they had to reschedule 5 days after my scheduled delivery date because they forgot to file for a permit. They literally said that they forgot, and to make matters worse, they said that I would need to drop everything that I was doing, leave work, and go to the Dept of Public Works to plead with them to issue a permit. I asked customer service if they could send someone on my behalf, and they said that they could, but that they would not. I explained how amazingly disappointing and inconvenient all of this was for a reservation that was made 3 months in advance, and after waiting 10 minutes for the representative to talk with their boss for a discount, they offered $100 off a $4,000 order which equates to a 2.5% discount for a problem that they created because they forgot, and then asked me to get the permit that they were supposed to get. In summary, once they have your money, they could care less about you and your move. They have no concept that delivery dates are important for people packing their home into a container and then shipping it across the country. They don't care about your plans, they are working on their own schedule. Avoid Pack Rat at all costs. I should have gone with PODS and I would have saved myself close to $1,000 after the mess that they made and left me to clean up. Buyer beware.
