First time at Nana’s today, and I️ was excited to try a new soul food restaurant with my grandmother. It was relatively slow for a Sunday in my opinion, with maybe 5/6 other parties in the restaurant. I️ ordered a small dinner meal with catfish and two sides. Considering it’s fish, I️ guess their policy is to cook it per order so that it’s fresh. Very reasonable, I️ had no problem with that. HOWEVER, 20+ minutes later with no other patrons in line ordering food, and even one of their employees kept asking where was my food, I️ decided enough was enough. It definitely doesn’t take over 20 minutes to fry two pieces of fish, max 5-10 mins. I️ went to the register and asked the woman who took my order how long it would be, and her exact response was, “shaking her head and shrugging her shoulders”, as in I️ don’t know. I️ instantly asked for a refund. Two employees apologized for my poor experience, which was nice, however no manager approached me to offer me any other options, or a compensated side or diff protein for my very patient wait. PLUS, a customer who came after me and ordered fish had gotten their food and left. My grandmother was finished with her food by the time I️ even asked for a refund. Funny thing is, I️ was going to order 3 extra meals for family members who couldn’t make it out, but I️ immediately decided against that after my experience. Long story short, I️ won’t be dining here again, and it’s unfortunate because I️ try my hardest to support Black businesses. Don’t order fish if you go here, and don’t expect great customer service!
I highly recommend!!!
The BBQ ribs were absolutely amazing. The meat slid right off of the bone. This was one of the only times I ate ribs and didn't have to get my hands dirty. The stuffing, yams, and macoroni & cheese were equally as delicious. One thing I would like to mention is that this is NOT A BUFFET. I don't know why it is described as a buffet on Google but it is more like a cafeteria. You order what you want, and they scoop it onto your plate. But, just because it's not a buffet doesn't mean it isn't one of the best places ever cause it is!
It was tasty food and I can’t complain about that. However, the price is ridiculous. I payed 16 dollars for two breasts of chicken and small sides of mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese. I think this could be a great experience if they changed the prices to something more realistic.
This was good home cooking fast. Staff was friendly and efficient. It was set up cafeteria style. We ordered small plates which consisted of 1 meat choice, 2 sides, a choice of roll or cornbread and a beverage. There are also a kids plate and large plate options. When we are in the area, we will definitely dine here again.
First time experiencing Nanas soul food kitchen. I did go 20 minutes before they were closing to try the fried chicken. I got a breast, wing and a thigh. Unfortunately the breast was not really fresh and dry. Therefore I can’t give an accurate description of the fried chicken. The batter seem to be really good. Make sure the fried chicken is fresh when you give this place a try. Great staff and excellent service.
