I had one issue with a guitar that I purchased there that had some damage to it that went unnoticed at first. The store manager, Chris, was understanding, responsive, and fair in getting it resolved.
This place is like the Walmart of music equipment. The selection of guitars is great, if you are in the market for a cheap guitar. They have very few upper level or high quality electrics other than Gibson. Staff was very unhelpful over the phone in telling me what they had in their inventory, so I wasted an hour of my time driving there only to find what I mentioned above. I will not be returning here.
Great customer service. Very enthusiastic yet professional staff. The staff is also very knowledgeable of their products.
You'd better know where everything already is stocked and exactly what you're looking for, or else you'll be "Lost in Yonkers". Staff ignored me as I wandered around aimlessly, not knowing the parts I needed for my karaoke machine microphone. They don't deserve any stars but Google makes you give them at least one. Don't believe me, go get lost there yourself.
It's a shame they don't give this location very much proper stock. The staff in the pro-audio/keyboard department are the most helpful. I highly recommend the Independence location for helpful crew and selection.
I also recently took that same guitar in for some pretty simple repairs to the electronics. Shawn was awesome. I expected to drop it off and pick it up the following week, but it was repaired for a fair price and I was out of the door with the work done twenty minutes later. Shawn was knowledgeable and approachable, and gave a very corporate store a much more "local music store" feel. Whatever they're paying him, it's not enough.
