Cheap is about the only good thing I can say. I waited quite a while for the attendant to serve a few other customers. The rental car had a funky smell in it, but otherwise was generally acceptable. Before returning the vehicle I took pictures of the car. I waited quite a while again to return the vehicle A day or two later my wife told me we has about $2000 in charges related to the rental when the total was supposed to be
**Update** I was finally able to get a receipt after calling the corporate customer service line. However the gentleman was barely helpful and very very hard to understand. This being said I would still not use them again.
Do not use this company. No one ever answers the phone at the Charlotte location. They gave away my car in Miami, and I had to wait a long period of time for a new car, which was not even close to what I reserved. I have been waiting 5 weeks for them to reach out to me with a final bill. The amount of effort required to deal with this company is far greater than the seemingly good deals they offer on rental rates. Steer clear of this company at all costs, pay a bit more and use someone else.
I️ reserved a rental on Expedia which was a breeze. The manager of this establishment need to be replaced with a person who cares about the cleanliness of their store. I️ see why this car rental facility is not in the airport. My husband and I️ waited an hour and some for the shuttle to pick us up from the airport to the Sheraton. No one showed so we drove our semi there which took 5 minutes. The orange chairs in their waiting area are stained with god knows what. The office had an unwelcoming stench. I️ declined the car because of the high insurance and the lady at the service desk saying, “The intake person know about all marks on the vehicle and after I️ take it if I️ see any the size as a credit card, call and let them know.” Ummm.... No! How about you do like every one else, and let’s do a walk around and inspect the vehicle before I️ sign on the dotted line saying I️ will take it. We went back to the airport and got a rental from Alamo. We paid much under $200 for three days with insurance with a better car than what Payless was offering.
DO NOT RELY ON THE SHUTTLE. The agency is attached to the Sheraton hotel who's shuttle is way more reliable. Use it. I read the reviews and figured I could wait 20 minutes...after a full hour...i understood what the reviews were saying. The price is low and rental experience is normal otherwise.
My rating (5/5) is based on our first-time experience with Payless Car rental. We have recently rented a car from Boston Logan airport through them. The person at the counter was quick in service. We booked for an intermediate sized sedan, and he upgraded us to mid-sized SUV, free of charge (probably they ran out of intermediate sedan). After returning the car, we were charged exact billed amount. It was a good experience.
